From Pilates to Yoga, Ballet Barre to Neuromuscular Therapy, Gigi has dedicated the last decade to teaching in major studios across the city. As a highly qualified and experienced instructor, her passion lies in passing knowledge onto those in need. Movement is her calling and has been since an early age.

Originally training in contemporary dance and ballet, Gigi spent twelve years in dance studios across Ireland & The UK. She then completed her Pilates training with Polestar Pilates UK an internationally recognised training body, becoming a fully comprehensive studio instructor and mentor. Completing her Yoga teacher training in Costa Rica and holds a qualification in Neuromuscular Physical Therapy from the National Training Centre Dublin.

Being a member of the Pilates Method Alliance, she has a range of experience teaching classes such as barre, mat, reformer and studio equipment. Having a keen interest in private individual Pilates and semi-private classes where she can give her full attention to her clients and offer them individual and specific movements that their bodies need.

Her intention is to take teachings from all disciplines to create a positive, safe, movement experience. This will challenge clients to move intelligently, with a keen focus on biomechanics, mindfulness and breath work.

After years of managing her own anxiety through talk therapy and movement. She has began to broaden her knowledge by embarking on psychotherapy and counselling training, hoping to support her clients on both a mental and physical level.

“After suffering bad wear and tear on my back for the past couple of years I decided to give Live & Breathe Pilates a try. It is a really beautiful studio, very spacious and bright. I’ve been attending the Studio for 9 months now and try and do 2 classes a week.One of the classes is with an instructor called Gigi. Gigi is a fantastic instructor, she mixes the exercises up each week, she explains the moves really clearly and her attention to alignment is excellent. She takes a personal interest in her clients and makes sure everyone is progressing. I never experienced this level of attention before in a group class. Gigi’s class is an hour long and she makes sure all parts of the body are worked and stretched. I find every class exciting and challenging.As a result of the classes I feel my posture has improved, I am also getting more flexible and as a result, I have more mobility in my back. Having dipped in and out of pilates since I was about 16 I have always had a love of this particular form of movement. Since starting to work with Gigi however I have come to attain a whole new appreciation of the true essence of Pilates and how important it is for sustainable, life-long health.In recent times I have been (finally) coming out of a 20 year period of eating disorders which saw me reach very unhealthy and life-threatening stages which included dangerous levels of muscle loss, leaving my body completely depleted. Although to the outside world I now look much healthier my body was left weakened and scarily fatigued from the years of abuse. However in the last year or so of working with Gigi I can slowly but surely feel my strength building and with it my confidence, posture and overall attitude. Gigi continues to helped me greatly in remembering the importance of accurate alignment, slowing down and knowing I am not perfect but that’s ok and knowing that health is a life-long goal - not just a moment to be captured on Instagram. Her knowledge of the body goes far beyond being able to get into a certain pose and I admire her unwavering belief and investment in her clients overall health. She has become a dear friend and when I’m older I’ll be blaming her for a lot of my laughter lines. I started training with Gigi in a bid to improve my general physical well-being following a slipped disc. I was never a fan of the gym or exercise classes and dreaded working out. My overall strength and fitness improved so much in a short space of time that I was able to perform exercises I would never have attempted on my own. Each class is tailored specifically to you taking into account your injuries and general well-being on a particular day, so you can achieve exactly what you have discussed. I have learnt so much from Gigi, she is willing to share her expert knowledge and answer any questions you come up with. Her advice on general well-being is great and her dedication is clear through her ongoing studies. I started go to private classes with Gigi just over a year ago and have seen significant progress in my strength and flexibility. Having fibromyalgia I am prone to muscle weakness and stiffness however Gigi tailors each session to my capabilities on the day. I lost my wonderful pilates teacher more than 3 years ago as she returned to live in Spain.  It took me more than two years to find a really good replacement teacher.  Luckily, this time last year I was introduced to Gigi Tynan who is a pilates and movement practitioner.  She is truly a very professional teacher and has worked hard with me over the past year to improve my breathing, balance, strength and flexibility.  I really do enjoy me weekly sessions with Gigi and definitely feel the benefit of my time spent with her.  So much so that my husband has now signed up to exercise with Gigi also.
